Wonders of Old: Ancient Timeline

A beautiful timeline reference app which will give you a unique perspective on the events of world history.

Wonders of Old: Ancient Timeline is a beautiful timeline reference app which will give you a unique perspective on the events of world history, including:

- kingdoms
- empires
- rulers
- wars
- artifacts
- inventions
- advancements
- and so much more!

It is a proven fact that timelines help cement historical facts for students and adults alike. Seeing the progression of time in the form of a timeline will allow your student to gain a better understanding of the flow of history.

The truth is... many students may study the fall of Carthage, the Han Dynasty, the Rosetta Stone, and the archeological site of Teotihuacan, never realizing that these four events all happened within the same timeframe - 202-196BC. These events may seem unrelated and yet the use of a timeline can unlock the mystery as to why all of these events occurred within the same period of time. A timeline will give you and/or your student a unique perspective of time. By seeing the events of history recorded in linear progression, you will make connections between those events in history that you might not otherwise make.

Wonders of Old is a 4-part app series, dividing the events of world history into four historical time periods: ancient, medieval, new world and modern. Wonders of Old: Ancient Timeline is the first app in this series.

Features:
- Pinch in and out across the timeline
- Swipe horizontally to move along the timeline
- Swipe vertically to move from region to region
- Tap on buttons to access descriptions of events in time

Ebook Readers?
Venera from South Dakota
Is this available in epub format? Or even a PDF can be read by most ebook readers. I'd love to have it but we don't have smart cell phones.

Android?
Terri from Gresham
Hi Chrissy,

Thank you so much for writing and expressing your opinion. We have considered the Android market and will continue to, but at this time, it is not financially feasible for us to port the apps to the Android market. With so many devices and lack of standards, along with a low revenue market, it is very difficult to create apps that work on all devices and will be profitable. We will remain open to the idea as the market continues to mature and develop.

Thank you,
Terri

Apps for other tablets?
Chrissy from SC
While the marketshare is certainly supporting the iPad, you do realize that the Android 3.0 outperforms the iPad. As well, more tablets, like the Samsung Galaxy and the Toshiba Thriver, are desinged to be used educationally with sync ability, wifi update on its own without a computer, as well as Office access.

No apps for Honeycomb? No apps for the Win 7? Why? Cost a factor?

Just remember everyone that you can use thes apps on an iPod touch. I just checked the store. :)

Awesome!

I am a very cautious/frugal app purchaser, but i am so buying this.. I knew owning an iPad would just get better and better.
IMO perfection would be achieved If I could add more events to their respective categories and times. But in all honesty I probably would barely use a feature like that.
And I would love it even more if it were a .99 app. Haha

Hi Cindy,

We may possibly create software for PC. We will certainly keep you posted when/if we do. Thanks for your suggestion. We appreciate it!

How about a PC version?
Cindy K. from Sparks, NV
You know, those old-school desktop/laptop devices running that old-school Windows 7? :)

Looks great, though! I suppose it works on the iPod, too? (Not just the iPad?)

Android vs. Apple
Beth from NC
My husband was explaining to me that the issue with Android phones is that they are not upgraded. The only Android phones that receive OS upgrades are the Google phones. So, writing apps is difficult, because if you have an older phone and an app is written using the most recent version of the OS, that will be problematic for you. With the iPhone, all the phones get updated with each new version of the OS. If you have an older phone, it might get a little slower, but you will have the most recent software so any apps will work.

Android and Timeline
Terri from Oregon
I believe that there are so many more apps for apple than for android because the App Store (and Apple) is a structured system to work within. The android marketplace is not very organized yet; nor are there as many safeguards or precautions for developers or users. There will definitely be more as the year goes on, I\'m sure.

As to the timeline of the other 3 apps in this series... we will be working on them over the course of the next few months so that they will all be available before the new school year.
